Here's a real classic: a cassiterite psuedomorph after orthoclase feldspar from Wheal Coates, Cornwall, England. These mainly came out in the 18th and 19th centuries and are now quite hard to come by. This specimen features large crystals (up to 4.7 cm) with fairly sharp faces. Upon closer inspection it can be seen that the orthoclase crystal is a Carlsbad-law twin. This piece has wonderful provenance as well, with labels from the Dr. Fred Pough collection as well as Phil Scalisi. Dr Pough was a legend of the 20th century mineral world and his field guides to minerals helped inspire generations of collectors. Ex - Dr. F. Pough Collection
