Huanzala Mine, Huanuco Dept., Peru
Price: $425.00 (USD)
Few mineral specimens area as universally recognized by mineral collectors and the general public as the wonderfully crystallized, bright brassy-yellow metallic pyrite crystals from the mines of west-central Peru. This specimen is from the Huanzala Mine, perhaps the most prolific producer of top quality pyrite specimens over the last 40 years.
This specimen is an attractive interlocked cluster of sharp, slightly striated pyrite crystals reaching 2.5 cm across. The dominant crystal form is the pyritohedron. Fine samples of pyrite are standard in most public and private mineral collections, as specimens typically display overall aesthetic appeal, strong metallic luster, razor-sharp crystal forms, and good crystal size. This is a highly collectoable piece that comes with a custom-made acrylic base.
