This is a fantastic large pyromorphite specimen from this famous Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg, Idaho. The Bunker Hill mine became famous to mineral collectors around the world in the early 1980's when major pockets of vibrant green, orange, and yellow pyromorphite crystals were discovered which became the standard in quality for the species. This piece was collected by mine owner Bob Hopper Sr. during the period of ~1990-2010, when sporadic underground mining rarely encountered smaller pockets with high-quality pyromorphite crystals. The mine is now closed and specimens like this, already considered "US classics", are quickly becoming hard to find. This impressive large cabinet-size piece features lustrous yellow-green crystals in fine condition and with good luster. They sit nicely on a stable matrix (unlike some Bunker Hill specimens) and have an interesting variety of crystal morphologies. A fine Bunker Hill pyromorphite for the serious collector.
