Colombian emerald crystals are known around the globe by both mineral collectors and the general public alike as some of the world's most valuable and treasured natural objects. With their vibrant green coloration, gemmy interiors, and frequent placement on calcite and pyrite matrix, they make for stunning mineral specimens in addition to their gem value. This is a fine 4 cm emerald crystal aesthetically perched on calcite crystal matrix, with just a light dusting of pyrite. The crystal has great color and is undamaged, with large gemmy areas and even some facet-quality zones. A marvelous emerald for the serious collector from the preeminent global locale for the species, the Chivor Mine in Muzo, Colombia. Tom Spann photo. Ex - Dave Matak Collection
