The Lake Superior Copper District of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula has produced the world's best native copper crystals for over 250 years, and such specimens are a staple of major museum and private collections around the world. Considered to be desirable classics, large well-crystallized copper specimens from the Keweenaw are now becoming quite scarce on the market, and this is a superb large group of crystals, arranged in a very aesthetic "praying mantis" like fashion. The entire specimen is composed of large, complexly-twinned tetrahexehedral crystals, with a rich chocolate-brown patina and great form. A choice American classic from the Proctor Family Trust Collection.
