Azurite crystals from the Milpillas Copper Mine in northern Mexico's Sonora State are very familiar to collectors around the world at this point, and are considered to be some of the world's finest. Even by Milpillas standards, however, azurite crystals from the 'Jewel Pocket' are simply outstanding. With razor-sharp faces, mirror-bright luster, and an intense, vibrant blue color, these azurites are not only some of the finest from the Milpillas mine, they are some of the best in the world. This is a superb 7.5 cm wide example in perfect condition and with great aesthetics. The Jewel Pocket only produced a few dozen of these fabulous azurites, and they were quickly swallowed up into leading private and museum collections. You would be hard-pressed to find any azurite in this size range from anywhere in the world that could measure up to the quality of this example.
