Copper crystals from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula have been prized by collectors for over 200 years and are considered to be the world's undisputed best for the species. Especially sought-after are sculptural groups of interconnected, sharp chocolate-brown crystals showing rich patina and complex crystal form. This superb specimen has these attributes in spades, with highly aesthetic form and the best patina you could ask for. The crystals are very well-defined and the specimen almost has a "pterodactyl" or dinosaur-like form. A choice old-time Michigan copper from the noted collection of Dave Matak. Tom Spann photo.
