Much rarer the aquamarine or even emerald, red beryl crystals are among the rarest and most coveted of all gem crystals. They are only found in high-quality crystals at one locality in the world- the Wah Wah Mountains in the remote desert of west-central Utah. This is a superb example, featuring a bright red, lustrous ~1 cm crystal perched aesthetically on white rhyolite matrix. The crystal contains small facet-quality areas, which is extremely rare for red beryl crystals. This is a choice example of a rare and highly collectible variety of beryl from the classic locality.
