An outstanding and highly-aesthetic plate of lustrous, midnight-blue azurite crystals on contrasting white matrix from Mexico's Milpillas mine. The Milpillas mine, an underground copper mine located in northern Mexico in Sonora State, has become a household name in the mineral collecting world over the past decade as the source of what many collectors consider the world's finest azurite crystals. This is an exceptional example with very large, lustrous, midnight-blue crystals to ~3 cm isolated on white matrix with minor malachite. The placement of the azurite crystals is aesthetically ideal and the overall visual presentation of the specimen is fantastic. With the oxide zone now largely mined out, the flood of fine azurite specimens coming from Milpillas is now ending, and this is the time to add a fine example to your collection of you don't already have one!
