Cobaltoan calcite specimens with large, lustrous crystals are probably the most valuable and desirable calcite specimens after copper-included calcites from Michigan and a few other locality specialties. This is a very fine 15 cm wide plate of lustrous, vibrant-pink calcite crystals from the classic Moroccan locality of Bou Azzer, with great color and large crystals (up to almost 1.5 cm each). Cobaltoan calcite specimen of this quality have never been common from Bou Azzer, and are not being found at the moment. This is a great example from the noted collection of Tennessee physician Dr. Steve Neely. Annette Slade photo.
