Rhodochrosite

A classic single rhomb from the Baker’s Pocket – the last pocket mined at the Detroit City Portal/Sweet Home Mine. This specimen has a matte luster on the front face but a nice juicy red color that glows when backlit. The top and one side face are very lustrous. There is some minor quartz and pyrite in association, adding nice contrast and context to the single crystal specimen. Note that there is one repair and one restoration, both of which are well-done and barely noticeable. A good, very affordable miniature from the Sweet Home Mine!
