Our innovative mining team has developed special location and extraction techniques which dramatically improve the quality and quantity of the specimens and gems we recover. Since 1984, we have been having a “blast” mining in interesting, challenging, and often exotic localities. Announcing the Permanent Closure of the Detroit City Portal of the Sweet Home Mine
The Detroit City Portal yielded quality rhodochrosite specimens from 2018 through the 2024 season. On September 3rd, we announced the permanent closure of the mine. We thank you for nearly 10 years of support in this dream mining venture.
The remaining specimens from the Detroit City Portal, including specimens from the last pocket at the mine – Baker’s Pocket – are now available on our Sweet Home Collection shop page.
